Pearl Harbor Day!

On December 7, 1941, the Japanese hit Pearl Harbor and crippled the US Pacific Fleet.  Our carriers were not there and the Japanese Imperial Navy called off the third wave of attackers that would have surely targeted to oil stockpiles.  Meanwhile over 2400 Americans died.

Incidents like Pearl Harbor show us why America needs to be vigilant and not forget events like this.  It is kind of hard though when it was over 80 years ago.  Even 9/11 was twenty years about and it seems like that has faded from immediate memory.  Such is human nature.

I read that where were only 12 survivors left from Pearl Harbor.  It is sad but inevitable.  After all, there are no Civil War or Peloponnesian War veterans out there.  The lessons remain though.

The attack galvanized Americans in a way that they had not been united since the Civil War.  The aftermath of 9/11 seems to bear a close resemblance to that.

It is a shame the nation is not that united today, but maybe it can happen without a major attack and though a sharing of shared values, not something imposed by out-of-touch Hollywood or DC elites.  Their version of reality, if you want to call it that, can never work.  Why?  Because it is based on lies and no one believes it...even the mindless college kids who try to shout in support of it.

It simply is not real.

The lesson of Pearl Harbor?

Vigilance and unity.

Not easy.  Never was, but it can be done.

A little act of kindness every day adds up!

Saskatchewan the Victorious!

The Saskatchewan Roughriders win the Grey Cup!

First victory in the big game since 2013 over Hamilton and it felt great!  A win in Winnipeg, home of their hated rivals, was even better!

Back in 2009 and 2010, the Riders had lost to Montreal on last second field goals (one when the Riders had 13 men on the field!), so this win over Montreal was even better!

Could this be the start of a dynasty?

To early to say, but you gotta start with one championship!

Celebrate responsibly and get read to go back to work on Monday!

Unless you live in Regina.

That place is gonna be closed tomorrow!

Been a minute!

Been a minute!

Been busy with moving and such and I am here to tell you that it NEVER ENDS!!!!

Nonetheless, the world has continued on its merry way!

Russia and Ukraine are still fighting and I hope it ends, but it does not see like it will end soon.

Trump brought Thailand and Cambodia to the peace table and the Middle East seems quiet. Hoping it stays that way.  Give the way humans are, who knows if it will last!

Keeping it short and sweet today so you know I am still out here!

More stuff next time!

Peace in Ukriane?

There might be an end in sight to the Ukriane-Russia war.

It could have been avoided if NATO had given Russia a written guarantee that Ukraine would be join the alliance.  Now, we have three plus years of warfare in Europe on a scale we have not seen since the Second World War.

Trump appears to have a general desire to end the war.  Now, will the shadowy figures in the background let the profits of continued war vanish?

Ukraine will not be able to push Russia out and Russia will not conquer Ukraine.  The most obvious solution to this war might be to keep the lines in place and move on.

Will Zelensky agree to his.  His martial law declarations continue ad infinitum  and as long as there is a war, he remains in power.  Arms dealers and "aid" will continue as long as the war continues.  If Ukraine--and by that I mean "Zelensky"--refused to give up any land, the war contiues.

With NATO building up to fight a "Russian threat," that means there is more weapons money landing in everyone hands.  And this "Russian threat" can't seem to knock out Ukraine.

Lots of fertilizer out there.

After the Alaska meeting between Trump and Putin, there is optimism.  Ideally, the US and Ukraine, along with some European leaders, will meet in DC to finalize a peace deal.  Then they will have the meeting between Trump, Putin, and Zelensy, possibly in Turkey, who gets along with both sides, or in DC again to get closer to an agreement.  The final announcement would come in a Trump visit to the Kremlin.

Will it play out this way?

All we can do is watch and wait.

Operation Midnight Hammer

After hearing about the threat Iran poses as a possible nuclear power since 2005, the US finally  acted on it.

Operation Midnight Hammer clearly did a lot of damage to the Iranian nuclear nuclear program.  President Trump says it is completely destroyed whilst Iran claims their nuclear program will go on.  The truth is somewhere in between.  Clearly, the FOURTEEN GBU-57 bombs did a LOT of damage so I am leaning a bit more towards Trump's claim.

The strategic legerdemain and deception was masterful and the Israeli air force's destruction of Iranian anti-aircraft assets combined to help pull off a flawless misson, How Iran will react is still up in the air.  They have lauched some more missiles at Israel, but it seems more for show than anything else.  It might be winding down or ramping up, it is hard to say.

Wars have a way going places no one expects.

I am worried that the hubris of Operation Midnight Hammer might lead to a lowering of the guard and Iran's extensive terror network might lead to attacks here in the US.  Iran might go after the Strait of Hormuz and wreak havoc on the world oil supply.  If they are smart, they will back off of this because there is a possibility of an angry populace demanding a change in leadership.

But this is the Middle East, so rationality might no be the way to approach this.

It is interesting that Iranian proxies, especially Hezbollah,  have been quite since Israel and Iran began flinging missiles at each other.  China and Russia have called for peace and the Arab world has said little, neither supporting or condemning either side.

With Biden's open border polices over the last four year, who knows what crept over the line from Mexico.  Nonetheless, it seems that the world has seen a determined and resolute US President act on a threat and they see this not the previous administration.

Now, we have to keep this from escalating.

Rioting in LA...again

Been a minute!

Meanwhile there are riots in LA...again.

This time it seems to be people ("activists") trying  to keep ICE agents from deporting illegal aliens.

First of all, "illegal alien" or "'undocumented immigrant" means they committed a felony by entering the country illegally. For some reason, some people on the left seem to think resorting to violence is justified.    Enjoy the tear-gas.

The "activists" do not seem to number that many.

LA has a history of rioting it seems.  There was Watts in 1965, Rodney King riots in 1992, and George Floyd riots in 2020.

And every time the Lakers win :-P

Trump sent in the National Guard and California governor Newsom and LA mayor Bass starting shouting disapproval.  I thought that was strange considering they have no control over the situation.

The National Guard will regain control, ICE will continue deporting people, and Democrats will continue to look in competent because they are.

Until the next LA riot.

Rinse and repeat!

Possible truce in Russian-Ukrainian War>

It seems Vladimir Putin is going to call for a truce for Easter.

Maybe it is a step to an end to the war since this is the first time he has done this.

It might be wise for Ukraine to acknowledge the loss of the territory that Russia has taken.  There are those who say Zelensky wants the war to continue to so he can stay in power under a never-ending martial law declaration.

It is time to bring this war to an end.  Russia keeps what it has gained and Ukraine stays out of NATO.  To say otherwise indicates a desire to keep the war going. The Europeans know they can keep arming Ukraine even if it is not in NATO.

European "peacekeepers" are basically going to pour gasoline on this fire.  With eroding US support, it is a dangerous path for them to trod.

All Biden had to so was promise not to let Ukraine into NATO.  Now we have this.

Time to end it before the idiot leadership in Western Europe starts something everyone loses,

Maybe we need to leave NATO?

I read about the German parliament wanting to ban Alternative for Deutschland, the second most popular party in Germany, British police attempting to arrest parents for criticizing schools, and both country's inability to stop Islamic terrorism.

JD Vance had given a speech about the growing restrictions on freedom of speech in Western Europe. The question he asked, was why do we defend places that don't seem to have our values?  The speech was met with silence from the Europeans, which spoke volumes.

The actions of Britain and Germany and others--Ireland comes to mind--are exactly the sort of things Europeans accuse Vladimir Putin of committing.

Russia is not going to attack Europe.  East, west or anywhere else.  They can't knocl out Ukraine, so what makes you think they will roll west? The "rearming of Europe" is just a sham to funnel money to weapons companies.

During the Cold War, Western Europe was so free that communist parties ran in parliments.  The economy was booming and the Soviet Union did everything it could do to keep news and pictures from the West from coming in.  Dissent against a system that made people stand in line for toilet paper was punished.

Now in 2025, Western Europe's economies are moribund, dissent is met with police raids, and people are leaving.  Same story in the Soviet Republic of Canada.

Authoritarian regimes cannot withstand sustained resistance.  This is not a call for violence, but if you simply accept such a state of affairs in your country, well, you get what you tolerate.

No reason to stay in NATO to defend authoritarian governments.

Let the Europeans short it out for themselves.

Get outta here!

The hosebag is gone!

Of course, Carney does not really make anyone feel better, but there is an election coming up!

Trudeau wreaked a cool country and turned into into a cheap, flimsy version of the Soviet Union.  No freedom of expression, penalties for speaking against the government, and never, never EVER forget what this guy did during the COVID insanity.

He should have been gone a long time ago.

There will be a new election soon and Canada has a chance to recover and become the great place it was before.  Carney will call an election soon and hopefully Canadians will right the ship.

Given the way Parliamentary elections work, you don't actually need a majority to win.  Trudeau should know that since he never broke 40% at the polls.

He was very unpopular, a hypocrite wearing blackface and shouting about "racism" while idiotically standing to applaude a Ukrainian Nazi from an SS unit!  His own wife even left him.

Hopefully, he gets hauled into court for all he has done.  Do Canadians have the courage?  There was a time they did.

Try to not mess this up, Canada!  Here is your chance to decide of the kind of country you want to be!

What was supposed to be a three day blitzkrieg is not going into year number three.

Russia historically has a problem on offense, but are psychotic on defense.

They tried to hit Ukraine from two directions at once and it did not work.  Ukraine has fought hard and the war continues.  A lot of people (not sure how many) have died and this war appears to be a re-run of the First World War.

Hopefully, it is coming to an end as Trump replaces the ineefective Biden and it talking directly to Putin.  The Europeans are upset at not getting the recognition they feel they deserve and it seems Zelensky, whose term expired in April or October of last year (depending on your interpretation of Ukrainian law) is actually a dictator.

Lately, Trump and Zelensky have traded barbs, which is not a smart think for the Ukrainian leader (note the lack of title).

There might be a lot of vested interests in keep the war going, even if it is one Russian and one Ukrainian shooting in the air three times before going back to their lines.  A lot of aid to Ukraine cannot be accounted for and the whole thing is looking like a money laundering operation.

British Prime Minister Starmer is talking about sending 30k British soldiers to Ukraine as peacekeepers, but since that is half of Brtiain's army that does not seem like it would work.  Plus, Russia will not agree to have peacekeepers from NATO countries in Ukraine. Furthermore, Starmer want US air power on standby.

Can't see Trump going for that.

It also tells you how weak Britain is.

If you do put peacekeepers in there, they have to come from someplace outside NATO.

Russia is not going to give up any land.

Of course, look for European proposals to be non-starters since there seem to be many people making money off this.

The US and Russian adults are taking care of this.  Tell the European children to wait in another room and watch the Lion King or something.

Viva Las Gaza?

What do we do with Gaza?

If it is "rebuilt" back to what it was before, then all that happens is that another war ends up on the horizon.  We end up with the usual Middle Eastern problem of another war after one has just ended.

I don't know if Trump's idea of a Middle Eastern Las Vegas could work, but at least it is a thought outside the box to break the aforementioned war cycle.

If the United Nations was a solid functioning organization, it could take over the area and build what needs to be built.  But it is not.  Should the US walk into Gaza and run it?  I think that would a bad idea.

Still, out of the box thinking is the way to go here.

Beirut used to be the Paris of the Middle East until the civil war broke out in 1975.  Maybe Gaza could follow that path minus the civil war.  If Beirut gets rolling and gains its pre-civil war form, we can have a bit of competition.

Its worth thinking about!

Even if we don't pursue this particular option, at least it is something different!

The nightmare comes to an end

Today is the last day of the Biden administration!

The nightmare is ending and he can go off into the ash heap of history!

Many of the so-called "liberal" tyrants are falling. Arden in New Zealand saw the writing on the wall and resigned.  Marin in Finland lost badly in her re-election bid.  Trudeau is on the way out and now Biden is gone.  Germany has a new election in February and Marcon is in trouble in France.  Now, time to get that idiot Starmer in Britain out of 10 Downing Street!

Biden was a complete failuer.  He tried to rule like a dictator through executive orders (none of which have any legal standing), tried to divide Americans, called half of them "garbage", and in the end, his own party dumped.

Good by and good riddance!

Time to fix that damage and move onto something (a lot of somethings!) greater!

The liberation of Canada begins...we hope!

Justin Trudeau resigned as Prime Minister of Canada today.

Well, he leaves as soon as the Liberal Party finds a replacement, so it might be a few weeks, but he is gone!

Good-bye and good riddance!

Trudeau has wreaked Canada turning it from a pretty cool place that let me play pro football briefly to a dystopian nightmare that turned into the Soviet Union 2.0, complete with religious persecution, suppression of free speech, and an economy on the constant edge of collapse.  Even the weather was Soviet-like!

With Trudeau leaving, the Great White North has a chance of becoming GREAT again!

Naturally, it will be a long trip back.

There is no telling what sort of weirdo the Liberals might pick to replace Trudeau and there is the election coming up in October 2025. But it is a step in the right direction.  There is hope!

Better to run with Pierre Poliievre and the Conservatives and roll the dice.

Can't be worse/

The thing I could not stand the most about Trudeau was the Freedom Convoy.  He could have at least gone out to meet with them.  They are supposed to be his people after all.  Instead, he called them names and ran way.

He was dumb enough to give an actual Nazi a standing ovation in Parliament.

Even his own wife left him.

This detestable individual will be gone soon and Canada can start healing.

It won't be easy, so patience please!

Gonna be an uphill climb.
