Hurricane Matthew slams NC

The hurricane was not the problem. It was the flooding after the flooding!  The water kept rising and soon the roads started vanishing!

Michelle and I were lucky.  We lost power for about an hour and the water pressure was a little weak for a day.  Other than that, no problems.

School was cancelled for a week since most of the country was underwater.  I am not sure what the make up sked is, or if there is one since we are a community college so I guess I will just pick up with the Japan lecture I had ready for last Monday.

Nonetheless, we came out of it OK and Muffins the cat not only spent the storm out on the porch, she seemed to enjoy it!  I thought cats hated the rain!

The water is still rising since the water is running off into the rivers.  We are not near any rivers, so that is one thing we don't have to worry about.

We are very thankful.

This was not a direct hit, but we caught the fourth quadrant so it felt like a direct hit.

Tomorrow, we go back to our normal teaching schedule (or as close as we can!)...

...until the next one!
