Is France headed for civil war?

 

The "riots" started as student protests. Protests against bad schools...a protest that started with setting a principal on fire.

Now, they seem to have morphed into worse.

It is spread across the nation and doesen't seem to stopping any time soon.

Three weeks and still going strong. 

Clearly there is some sort of outside support.

The French military has been deployed in support of security services.  That is ususlly the first sign of a government that is afraid.  A government that might see a real danger.

France has a history of protests and revolutions. In fact, they are on their fifth republic. Is a sixth one coming.

Anger over immigration and economic issues.  What sort of new government would arise?

A Sixth Republic that looks like the Fifth..more right or left leaning?  Others have darkly hinted taht the country could break into a Sixth Republic and some sort of Caliphate in the south.

Looks like France, home of the French Revoltion, the Paris Commune, and the 1968 Student Revolution, is overdue for another upheavel.

And you thought the twenthy-first century was boring.
